Who is the John Dufton, born 1827, who marrys in 1853 at Coxhoe. He is a pitman. His parents are listed as Thomas and Elizabeth Dufton of Maradown?. His bride is Catharine Kelly the widow of Edward Kelly, they had a daughter Jane Kelly born in 1851. Catharine's parents are given as John and Mary Tracey of Killarny.

Could he belong to Leeke parish?

What happened to George Dufton born 1814 at Haltwhistle. There is a record of the baptism of his daughter Grace at Kirklinton in 1833. The mother is given as Mary.

Another John Dufton who was born in 1827 at Helton, he marries Maria Jane Wittingham at Manchester in 1852. Their daughter Ann Maria was born 1853 at Chorlton. She died in 1855 of her injuries due to scalding. This tragic event seems to have taken place at her maternal grandparents home.

But then the couple vanished, where did they go?

Who is the John Thomas Dufton aged 42 who dies at Prescot Street, Darlington in 1870. He is a labourer at the iron works. Mary Dufton present at death.
